Chillin

I guess the first few days of work feels just like internship. Though I shouldn't be as complacent :p The amount of info that we have to learn is quite a lot. I've just printed out a 200 page manual for just one of the monitoring tools we'll be using, the NexTone RSM. VoIP technology was merely a footnote in my Data Comm class, so being specialized in it is going to take a bit of time. I think its good to actually try something thats not your forte. In the end, you'll end up being expert in many things rather than one. I've always believed in diversification in knowledge (or, is that an excuse for being uncertain on what to do?).

We've got our own new comps, and a super fast Internet connection (downloaded a 3GB Linux ISO in 15 mins). Its so tempting to waste time on other things. Its times like these where I am glad I tolerated the urge to use facebook ;)

My colleagues are great. There are only just over a dozen of us in the Malaysian branch, so its easy to converse among each other. Most are from the Karachi branch, in Pakistan. So at the moment, only 5 are actually Malaysian. Internationalization.. its like I never left IIUM ;)

It looks like I could fit in basketball in the morning afterall. Official work time starts at 10am, so I could sneak in a basketball workout around 7:30am, and go for a shower at the gym near the office.. if they showers (note: need to check). Last time I played was last week with my old school buddy Erwin, after a hiatus of a couple of years. Kicked my ass in shooting, so I know I'm oxidized to the max. Even my trusty layups caused massive back pains, let alone jumpshots. At least that bad day in bball was compensated with some Wii fun at Erwin's place, lol.
