.. barely. The passing score of 720/900 (I'm still not sure if its a linear weightage of all the 100 questions, or whether some questions are worth more than others) felt quite a high obstacle to beat, considering my study schedule was chaotic with all the FYP stuff going on. Staring at the questions on the screen, trying to choose the best answers, and glancing frequently at the countdown timer.. was an interesting first experience. I knew I shouldn't have relied entirely on the old study materials (circa 2005).
I guess I made it harder than it really was. I didn't have time to practice many past tests, let alone study all the theory behind the 2009 objectives CompTIA listed. I feel I could have done better if I had invested more time in studying (rather than doing a hack job of learning everything in a total of 36 hours). I know I've got to put more effort if I want to start with the Cisco CCNA track, considering these are all entry level certs.
Its great that the result slip came with what areas I answered incorrectly. Looks like I have a few weeks to review them before my job starts. FYP is nearly over, just need to submit posters and what not. Graduation is finally within my grasp :)
I appreciated that IIUM (in collaboration with the 3P industry certification programme) offered these courses for students, with all fees subsidized. With the exam paper itself worth nearly RM1000, its almost a gift. If I didn't pass, I would have kicked myself for missing the chance.
