Resisting the art of sulking

In Malay language, we have a popular word, merajuk, which means sulking.Usually when someone received some scathing scolding and goes off to sulk with a bad mood, we say "dia merajuk". Any attempts to converse with them results in a silent response. But funnily enough.. when we claim someone is sulking, they deny it and become more sulked. So its better to leave them be rather than to escalate the issue.

Now why on earth am I talking about this? Well, yesterday I received just a tiny little flak from my seniors at work regarding some monitoring issues. One of my tasks was to monitor companies that have prepay accounts with us and warn the account manager when the limit is approaching, then block them in the system. So yeah, I happen to miss two of the companies that had passed the limit.. which could have resulted in a lot of loss for the company. Good thing another engineer noticed and warned. As part of my training, I have to do multiple tasks at once, including network traffic monitoring and troubleshooting, dealing with live online support with multiple companies and the like.. so it was a lot of tense pressure. I was about to begin to "merajuk" after getting the flak. Even my prepay monitoring procedures (I devised my own method) was questioned. But then I realised.. bro, can't let one tiny blimp affect the rest of my work.. or else I'll just collapse under the stress. So I just let it be! Just smile and learn from the mistakes =)

Now I have a weekend shift at work. Life is great isn't it =P
