Its 7am, and I still hear these weird shuffles in my office. Not sure if I'm hallucinating, but given I'm on my third straight night shift (2am-10am), who knows what the heck I'm experiencing.
Anyway, since starting work, I've begin the great project of clearing old stuff from my room in the family house. I'm quite a sentimentalist, so I tend to hoard so many things over the years that I'll never use anyway (miscellaneous objects, old school and uni notes, etc). I managed to find an old booklet from 1993, when I was in first grade in International School of Islamabad, Pakistan. It had pictures of my classmates and their personal comments (we each wrote a comment in each other's booklets). Kind of cute.. comments they wrote include "You are nice", "You are friendly to me", "You are fast" (runner, that is.), "Hope we meet again". Of course.. when we are 7 years old, our friends are nice.. well, the world seems generally nice! Unless there was a kid that steals chocolate from you.
Out of curiosity, I Googled their names up to see what they look like after 17 years. Here comes the virtue of things like Facebook and MySpace.. you might just end up finding old classmates. But names can be common, so I doubted I could find the right person. After a couple of searches, I think I found one or two that resembled the old pictures. One in particular with the same name and same matching red hair.. now with tattoos =P She was a friendly girl and a little hyper back then, and she lived around the same area as I did. I wonder about those who are back in their countries, such as in the US and Europe, whether they had good memories of their time in Pakistan all those years ago.
Speaking of Facebook, I tried logging in my old account after 1 year, and was surprised that it was still there.. but deactivated. The act of logging in reactivated it, and before I knew it, messages and updates of my contacts flooded the screen. Details that I don't really care about. Ooo.. Friend A is now friends with Friend B! Friend C has added pictures! All that repeated a hundred times. Before I could go crazy, I deactivated my account, again. Ain't gonna open that can of worms for a while, if not ever.
But then.. some of my good friends only keep in touch through FB, especially a particular one in Montreal (yeah, you know who you are =P ). Gone are the good days of emailing.
sigh... fell trees as birds sit on them.
